Shirley Ann Bates

March 4, 1938 — April 5, 2026

Fate, TX

Shirley Ann Bewley Bates of Fate, TX, lovingly known as Granny, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 5, 2026 at the age of 88, surrounded by her loved ones.

Shirley lived a life full of strength, love, and unwavering faith. She was the heart of our family - always offering comfort, wisdom, and a gentle spirit that made everyone feel at home.

She was known for her warm smile and caring heart.

Shirley was a devoted homemaker who poured her heart into creating a loving home for her family. Raising her children was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She spent her life caring for others and always putting everyone’s needs before her own. Shirley enjoyed reading her bible, working on jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her friends at “The Hut”. She was a longtime member of Wapanucka First Baptist Church and later attended Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, TX

Survived by sons Darryl and wife Kim of Midlothian TX, David and wife Traci of Fate, TX, and daughter-in-law Sharon of Sanger, TX. Beloved grandchildren Jem Black, Danny “Lee” Bates Jr, Christopher Bates, Jason Bates, and Katelynn Bates. Cherished great-grandchildren Payton, Jalen, Hannah, Hailey, Theodore, and Kaiden, along with other precious family and friends who loved her dearly.

Preceded in death by parents Herbert and Edith Bewley, twin daughters Sharon and Karen, son Danny, brothers Herbert Bewley Jr, Hurley Bewley, sisters Illene McKee, Carol Duke, Patsy Rodgers, Joyce Payne and Jo Gleghorn.

We rejoice in knowing Granny is now healed, whole, and resting peacefully in the presence of Jesus.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” - Matthew 25:23
