Stetson Shawn Thompson, age 39, an Atoka, OK resident. He was born on Sunday, March 17, 1985, to James Anthony and Sandy Yvette (Rains) Thompson, at Durant, OK. Stetson passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at his residence in Atoka, OK. He graduated from Atoka High School in 2003 and attended the Atoka Kiamichi Technology Center for 2 years studying automotive mechanics. Stetson worked for his dad for several years building fence. He worked on the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP) for 9 years. Stetson worked for Neighbors Drilling, Total Oil Field, and was a rig hand for Cactus Drilling. He worked on the highline and was self employed as a construction worker for the last couple years.  Stetson was of the Baptist faith. He loved working on and building cars and motors. He enjoyed fishing, history, and watching history documentaries.
Stetson is survived by his son, Dooley Avery Thompson of Atoka, OK; parents, James Anthony and Sandy Yvette (Rains) Thompson of Atoka, OK; sisters, Michelle Settlemire and husband Micky of Atoka, OK, Taylor Thompson and boyfriend Charles "Chase" McCall V of Atoka, OK; nephew, Dalton Settlemire of Atoka, OK; niece, Payton Settlemire of Atoka, OK; grandmothers, Billie Alford of Atoka OK, Doris Callicoat of Bentley, OK; very special cousin, Stormy Thompson of Atoka, OK; aunts & uncles, Debbie Kenyon and husband Donnie of Atoka, OK, Alan Durant of Atoka, OK, Donna Allen of Atoka, OK, Tracy Thompson of McAlester, OK, Maurice Thompson and girlfriend Stephanie Lucas of Atoka, OK, Zane Thompson and wife Josette of Jacksonville, TX, James Rains of Atoka, OK, Brian Callicoat of Bentley, OK; along with numerous cousins, relatives, and many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Donald Thompson, Archie James Rains; cousin, Misty Farmer; uncles, Stacy Thompson, Billie Frank "Pete" Durant.
