Teddy Joe Smith, age 74, was born on Wednesday, January 21, 1948, to Evans and Eretta (Washington) Smith, at Stringtown, OK. He grew up in Stringtown, OK, went to Douglas Elementary until 1958 then went to Stringtown Elementary and graduated from Stringtown High School in 1966. He then went on to OSU in Equestrian. While in school at Stringtown he was in the FFA, winning many awards showing his prize calf and hog. He worked very hard at taking care of them. He went on to being an all around horseman, showing horses and training them. TJ went near and far being a trainer, even to Brazil. He also was a calf roper. TJ made many friends along his journey. He helped a lot of people along the way. TJ would give you his last dime. He was a world champion in the Equestrian show industry and a smart trainer. Teddy Joe knew the horses. He was a good brother, and uncle. He helped many children learning how to ride horses and train them.Teddy passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Guthrie, OK.He received an Associate's Degree. Teddy was a horse equestrian. He grew up in Miles Chapel CME Methodist Church.
TJ is survived by his sisters, Allie Alexander of Denison, TX, Loretta Smith of Reagan, OK, Delilah Ann Smith of Midwest City, OK; brothers, Jimmy Dale Smith and wife Arlene of Lane, OK, Ricky B. Smith and wife Rachel of Frederick, MD; special cousins, Nancy Marie Robinson, Gloria Jean Greene; childhood friends, Mike Neal, Johnny Taylor, Marshall Viney, Willie Lee Gardner, Jimmy Marley, Jimmy Prater, Jamie Thompson, along with a host of special nieces, special nephews, cousins other relatives and many dear friends.
Teddy was preceded by his parents, Evans and Eretta (Washington) Smith; brothers, Tezell Smith, Eugene Smith, Spencer Smith, Johnny Smith; sisters, Lois Smith, Wanda Faye Winrow; nephew, Steve Alexander; niece, Tracy Rector
