Thyra Alice (Cox) Gudgel, age 72, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Tuesday, May 18, 1948, to Daniel S. and Lennie Belle (Bowen) Cox, at Dumas, TX. Thyra passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at her home in Atoka, OK. She graduated from Tushka High School in 1966. Thyra was a seamstress for the Levi Company. She married Johnnie Lee Gudgel on Saturday, May 27th, 1972 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 27 years of marriage before his passing on August 27, 1999. Thyra enjoyed thrift store shopping and loved taking care of her dog, Winston.
Thyra is survived by her brothers, Charles Richard Bolt and wife Wanda of Cleburne, TX, Billy Joe Cox of Arnold, MO; niece, Teresa Bolt of Arlington, TX; her dog Winston of the home; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Thyra was preceded in death by her father, Daniel S. Cox; mother, Lennie Belle (Bowen) Bolt-Cox; husband, Johnnie Lee Gudgel; brothers, Enith Bolt Jr., Keith Wayne Cox.
