Tommy Loyd Prater, age 81, a Choctaw, OK resident formerly of Atoka, OK, was born on Tuesday, October 19, 1937, to William Riley and Mable Odean (Hale) Prater, at Bakersfield, CA. Tommy passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Choctaw, OK. He attended Bentley School.
Tommy was self employed as a welder. Tommy proudly served his country in The Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Tommy married Bessie Paulette (Cross) on April 1, 1964 at McKinney, TX, she preceded him in death. He later married Margaret (French) on Saturday, March 28th, 2009 at Choctaw, OK. They have enjoyed 10 years of marriage.
He enjoyed working, traveling and most of all spending time with his family.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Margaret Prater of the home in Choctaw, OK; children, Frank Eugene Prater and wife Stephanie of Oregon, Tommie Loyd Prater Jr. of Texas, Tamara Morgan of Denison, TX, LaVonda French of Choctaw, OK; sisters, Patsy Davis of Trenton, TX, Mary Thomison of Trenton, TX, Betty Saunders and husband Jimmy of Greenville, TX; 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mable Odean (Hale) Prater; first wife, Bessie Paulette Prater; brother, Elbert Prater; sisters, Roselan McGarrah, Davie Jo Leeper; infant daughter, Waynette Prater.
