Velma Louise (Kinsey) Holstine, age 97, a lifelong Stringtown, OK resident, was born on Sunday, June 28, 1925, to Raymond Grady and Mamie (Rushing) Kinsey, at Stringtown, OK. Velma passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at her home in Stringtown, OK. She attended school in Bromide, OK and Anaheim, CA before graduating from Stringtown High School in 1942. Velma was a secretary for Amis Materials, retiring after 9 years. She married Carl U. Holstine on Tuesday, June 4th, 1946 at Wilson Community. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1995. They celebrated 49 1/2 years together. Velma was a member of The Assembly of God Church in Atoka. She loved to sketch, sew, creating her own patterns, read, fish and travel, especially sight seeing to enjoy God's beautiful creation. Louise lived 74 of her 97 years in the house she and Carl built in Stringtown in 1949, adding to the house as the family grew. Her years away from Stringtown included working as a riveter in Anaheim and Torrence, CA war plants during WW11. These ladies were famously known as "Rosie the Riveter". Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
