Obituary

Virgie "Marlene" (Thornton) Henderson, age 78, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, was born on Tuesday, January 16, 1940, to Henry Pete and Nellie Mae (Lawrence) Thornton, at Sasawkwa, OK. Marlene passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at her residence in Atoka, OK. She graduated from Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City.  Marlene was a housewife and homemaker.  She married Johnnie Ray Henderson on Friday, November 29th, 1957 at Durant, OK. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2014. They had 57 wonderful years together.  Marlene  was a longtime member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She was baptised into the faith on July 16, 1967 by Bro Thomas Neal. Marlene was an avid quilter.
Marlene is survived by her kids, Ronnie Henderson and wife Karen of Atoka, OK, Kenneth Henderson and wife Renae of Caddo, OK, Carl Henderson and wife Jana of Atoka, OK,  Pamela Bingham of Bentley, OK, Carol Lane and husband Matt of Harmony, OK, Leonard Henderson and wife Shaye of Bentley, OK; grandkids, Angie Hodge and husband Brian of Caddo, OK, Crystal Gossett of Atoka, OK, Brandie Humphrey and  husband Zack of Edmond, OK, Jessica Smith of Farris, OK, Jessica Gentry and husband Heath of Caddo, OK, Johnica Pierce and husband Lane of Caddo, OK, Stetson Henderson and wife Sarahi of Atoka, OK, Stormie Henderson of Jay, OK, Zed Moon of Atoka, OK, Sevans Henderson of Nashville, TN, Ashley Glover and husband Bob of Tushka, OK, Kendra Cannon and husband Bodie of Lane, OK, Taylor Bingham and wife Ashley of Atoka, OK, Raynee Eaves and husband Caleb of Bentley, OK,  Kendall Lane and wife Lindsey of Harmony, OK, Meagan Burnside of Garvin, OK, Madison Burnside of Bentley, OK, Nathan Henderson and fiancé Kayle of Caney, OK, Nickole Henderson of Bentley, OK, Nick Henderson of Bentley, OK; great grandchildren,   Hannah Hodge, Phillip and Haygan Gossett, Denver Humphrey, Trenton Carriger, Garrett Smith, Cameron and Magli Gentry, Peyton and Rylee Pierce, Conway Gibson, Copper Rose and Hendrix Middleton, Ruger Moon, Lakelynn and soon to be baby brother Henderson, Brooks Glover, Cooper Callicoat, Matthew, Emily, Abby and Payton Cannon, Briar Bingham, Will, Jonah, and Samuel Eaves, Cole, Harper and Kenzie Lane, Bentlee and Jaylon Burnside, Cheri Sharp and Emri Henderson; siblings, Floyd Haskell Thornton and wife Joyce of Oklahoma City, OK, Viva Jean Castronora and husband Jack of Oklahoma City, OK, Barbara Pounds of Oklahoma City, OK, Sharon Wolf and husband Mike of Edmond, OK; in laws, Ruth Keeler of Oklahoma City, OK,  Frank Henderson and wife Freda ofAtoka, OK, Artie Powell of Harmony, OK, Fred Henderson and wife Judy of Oklahoma City, OK,  Ted Henderson and wife Pat of Tushka, OK, Mary Jane Ables and husband Richard of Boggy Depot, OK, Merle Henderson of Bentley, OK, Mary Henderson of Stratford, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Pete and Nellie Mae (Lawrence) Thornton; husband, John Henderson; father and mother in law, Jude and Lilly Bell Henderson; sister, Delois Thornton; brother, Gerald Thornton; sister in law, Esther Fincher and husband Bo; brothers in law, Jerry Henderson, Marvin Henderson, Jim Henderson and wife Faye, Perry Henderson and wife Mary, Ed Keeler, James Powell.
