Virginia Ruth Callicoat, age 90, a Chickasha, OK resident. She was born on Friday, March 22, 1935 to Clarence Melvin and Dellia (Hargis) Kemp in Greenwood, AR. Virginia passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025 in Norman, OK. She graduated high school in California. Virginia was a homemaker. In her younger years, she worked at the Ice Cream Shop where she met her husband. She was also a telephone operator and worked at the Blue Bell Wrangler plant. She married Charles William Callicoat on Tuesday, January 26, 1954 in Reno, NV. Virginia was a member of the Bentley Baptist Church. She loved playing the piano at church. Virginia was an avid reader of the Bible and a gardener; she had the greenest thumb and could grow anything in her garden. She liked to crochet, sew, and quilt blankets. Virginia loved to sing as she came from a very talented family of musicians and singers. Whenever possible, she loved on her grandbabies.
Virginia is survived by her children, Alan Callicoat of Silver Lake, IN, Donna Ledford and husband Shawn of Chickasha, OK, Ellis Callicoat and wife Deanna of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Dustin Callicoat and wife Sara of Ardmore, OK, Amanda Johnson and husband Jeremy of North Manchester, IN, Amy Johnson and husband Gary of Urbana, IN, Bryce Tucker and wife Jessica of Shawnee, OK, Kara Taylor and husband Will of Moore, OK, Michael Young of Wylie, TX, Brittany Barcheers of Josephine, TX; 26 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Hicks and husband Edmond of Muldrow, OK, Linda Owens of Bartlesville, OK, Peggy Hewitt of Bartlesville, OK, Carrol Hicks and husband Fred of Pineville, MO; brother, Tommy Kemp and wife Kim of Muldrow, OK.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Dellia (Hargis) Kemp; husband, Charles William Callicoat; siblings, Sonny Kemp, Wayne Kemp, Lillie Cox; son, Terry Lee Callicoat; grandson, TJ Callicoat.
