Virginia (Cole) Farmer, age 90, a lifelong Atoka County resident of Stringtown and Greasy Bend area, was born on Sunday, May 15, 1932, to Oscar Lee and Hattie Lue (Simpson) Cole, at Reydon, OK. Virginia passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at her home in Stringtown, OK. She attended Armstrong and Greasy Bend Schools and graduated from Stringtown High School in 1950. Virginia was a housewife and homemaker, worked at Debbie Ann's, Diaper Jean and the Savannah Naval Base. She married James Hosltine on May 13, 1953 and later married John Farmer on August 19, 1975 at Atoka, OK. John preceded her in death. Virginia was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She worked the voting poll at Stringtown for Atoka County Election Board for many years, enjoyed fishing, hunting, doing ceramics, crafts, collecting dolls and cookbooks, reading and loved spending time with her family.
Virginia is survived by her children, Anita Farmer of Stringtown, OK, Blaine Holstine and wife Leslie of Stringtown, OK; grandchildren, Johnathan Farmer and wife Nikkina of Sulphur, OK, Taylor Elliott and husband Bradley of Tushka, OK, Rechell Ward of Drumright, OK, Tara Moore and husband Joey of Clinton, OK, Kara Slay of Greenville, TX, Jimmy Wayne Holstine and wife Mendy of Atoka, OK, Jamey Holstine and wife Laci of Atoka, OK, Chris Frazier and wife Melissa of Atoka, OK, James Franklin of Lewisville, TX, Kristy Farmer of Lewisville, TX, Teresa William of Lewisville, TX; 30 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; daughter in law, Nelda Holstine of Stringtown, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Lee and Hattie Lue (Simpson) Cole; husband, John Farmer; son, Blair Holstine; brothers, Eldon Cole, Frank Cole, Eulis Cole, James Cole; sister, Effie George; nephew, Roy Cole; niece, Verna Mae Barnett.
