Virginia Christine (Beal) Winters, age 87, a lifelong Stringtown, OK resident. She was born on Saturday, September 28, 1935, to Jones Peeler and Lillie Christine (Long) Beal, at Chockie, OK. Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at her home in Stringtown, OK surrounded by her loved ones. She attended Rivera Beach School in Maryland, school in Flippin, AR, Armstrong Grade School and graduated from Stringtown High School in 1953. She went on to attend Murray State College and then SOSU in Durant where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1979. Virginia was a teacher for Stringtown Public School. for 18 years before retiring in 1997.  She married John Palmer Winters on Thursday, November 25th, 1954 at Atoka, OK. They have celebrated almost 69 years of marriage before her passing. Virginia attended the Presbyterian Church in Stringtown and later Stringtown Baptist Church. She was a member of OEO and OREA. She enjoyed traveling and loved being with her family.
Virginia is survived by her husband, John Palmer Winters of the home in Stringtown, OK; sons, John R. Winters and wife Lynn of Antlers, OK, Larry B. Winters and wife Lisa of Savannah, OK, Kelly J. Winters of Stringtown, OK; grandchildren, Roy B. Winters and wife Amanda of Piedmont, MO, Amber L. Buchanon and husband Jonathan of Fayetteville, AR, Michelle Moyer and husband Randle of Antlers, OK, Kristopher Winters and wife Halei of Durant, OK, Kaleb L. Winters of Stringtown, OK; great grandchildren, Snowey Dawn Winters, Jones Winters, Luke D. Buchanon, Isabelle Buchanon, Abby Cole, Khylei Winters, Calvin Moyer; sisters, Nancy Williams, Yvonne Foley; sister in law and husband, Nancy Grimes and husband Lonnie;
along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Jones Peeler and Lillie Christine (Long) Beal; in laws, John R. and M. Doris Winters; sister, Sue Davis; brothers in law, Charles S. Foley, Clyde Williams; niece, L. Christine Thompson; aunt, Ruby H. Lewis.
