Voda Ellen Sheffield, age 96, a longtime Lane, OK resident, was born on Saturday, February 7, 1925, to Thomas Emery and Alta Golden (Hendrix) Crain, at Seminole County, OK. Voda passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at her home in Lane, OK. She attended Atoka High School. Voda was a housewife and homemaker. Voda Ellen Crain married Sam Smith in March of 1942 and had a son, Samuel Lewis Crain. She later married Zeak Sheffield in November 1946 at Ukiah, CA and together raised their children, Sam Crain, Carol Clemens , Kenneth Sheffield, Norma Burk, Phyllis Ridgeway, Donna Berry, Troy Sheffield, and Darrin Sheffield. They celebrated almost 65 years of marriage before his passing in June 2011. Voda was a member of Lane Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, watching soap operas, game shows and loved spending time with her family.
Voda is survived by her children, Sam Crain of Lane, OK, Carol Clemens of Atoka, OK, Norma Burk and husband Howard of Justin, TX, Phyllis Ridgeway of Justin, TX, Donna Berry and husband Cliff of Atoka, OK, Troy Sheffield of Lane, OK, Darrin Sheffield and wife Lisa of Ada, OK; grandchildren, Traci, Misty, Julie, Stephanie, Devin, Jason, Derek, Alicia, Jeff, Sabrina, Brian, Cody, Ashley, Bridgette, Cheryl, Allison, Kristin, Patrick, Zach, Chase, Tanner, Hannah, Karsen; 23 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Voda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Emery and Alta Golden Crain; husband, Zeak Sheffield; son, Kenneth Sheffield; grandchildren, Stephen Sullivan, Katrina Ridgeway, newborn granddaughter; great grandson, Matthew Valenzuela; siblings, Ida Mae New, Charles, Jack, and Junior Crain; son in law, Garry Clemens; daughter in law, LaJuana Crain.
