Obituary Willie Newton Cogburn, age 85, a Corpus Christi, TX resident, He was born on Saturday, January 28, 1928, to William and Zoe Cogburn, at Childress, TX. Willie passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Corpus Christi, TX. He attended Caney School. Willie was a cotton farmer. He married Betty Jo Peters on April 19, 1946 they were together 46 years, she preceded him on March 31, 1992, then he married Mabel Griffin on July 27, 2007 in Arkansas, she preceded him on March 23, 2012. Willie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atoka, before moving to Southcrest Baptist in Corpus, Christi, TX. Willie is survived by his children, Jo Allsup and husband Steve of Lubbock, TX., Leon Cogburn and wife Joyce of Rosanky, TX., Wayne Cogburn and wife Norma of Slaton, TX., Stacie Newsome and husband Jay of Corpus Christi, TX.; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; cousins, Lenore McBride and husband Buster of Caney, OK., Georgia Ann Stanley and husband James of Atoka, OK.; along with other relatives and dear friends.
